Product Spotlight: Oracle Database Cloud Service – S50

Oracle Autonomous Database monitors your workloads and keeps track of who can access your data.

The best thing about the cloud is that you can get all the services, software, infrastructure and platform that you need without having to spend too much on hardware and other stuff just to get things up and running.  This means that your business can easily scale when needed and can become very agile.  This is the reason why cloud computing is fast becoming a viable option for businesses.

If you use Oracle, you do not have to spend a lot of money upgrading your infrastructure.  Instead, you can just avail of the Oracle Database Cloud Service – S50.

For only $2,000 a month, you can get 50 gigabytes of Oracle Database storage that could easily hold 10 million rows of data.  You will also be entitled to 300 gigabytes of data transfer rate every month.  You would be using Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, with the following features:

  • Application development
  • Data loading
  • NoSQL*NET access
  • RESTful Web Services, which allows you to access outside applications
  • SQL workshop
  • Team development

With the Oracle Database Cloud Service – S50, Oracle guarantees fast provisioning that allows you to have your database up and running in just minutes.  You can configure everything to your heart’s content and according to what you need.  The Oracle Database Cloud Service – S50 is also very simple, and you are just a few clicks away from having a complete development environment or from running your instances.

In short, Oracle handles everything you need in order to get a full development environment for your applications using Java and RESTful Web Services.  You get a dedicated database schema for each service and you get to access everything in the cloud.  Further, you can utilize SQL and PL/SQL for your cloud applications.

One of the Many

The Oracle Database Cloud Service – S50 is one of the many offerings that Oracle has for its Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings.  Other packages include:

  • Oracle Database Cloud Service – S5 and S20, which is similar to S50 only cheaper with smaller storage and data transfer rates.  The S5 is only $175 per month, with five gigabytes of database storage and 30 gigabytes of data transfer rate.  The S20 costs $900 a month for 20 gigabytes storage and 120 gigabytes data transfer.
  • Oracle Java Cloud Service – S1, S2 and S4, which allow you to use Oracle WebLogic Managed Server, with varying RAM allocation for Java Heap, storage and data transfer.

Aside from offering PaaS for database and Java, Oracle also helps you with its Basic, Managed and Premium Managed Database as a Service offerings.
